Hi, and thanks for visiting!

A little about my "work identity" first...  I'm a Business Education Teacher with the City of Albany School District.  I teach my classes at the Abrookin Career & Technical Center located currently about two blocks from Albany High School.  Last year was my first year in the district, and I must say that it was fantastic!  I was given some wonderful resources, a mountain of challenges, and a faculty that is second to none, and worked hard to provide my best to a wonderful group of students.  I can't wait to see what next year will bring!

My interest in the Education Internship Program came directly from my classroom teaching and experiences.  As part of my Economics in Business class, my students go through a four- to five-week program focused on career planning.  Also, I work with one of our after-school programs, the Youth Construction Initiative Program, YCIP, as a job and career consultant.  With both groups, I'd love to say that, as seniors, most of them have seen this material before, but that's simply not the case.  My approach this past year was more "better late than never," and given the time we had to cover it all, we did a good job.  My goal for the next three weeks is to hone my own curriculum, as well as develop more resources that I can use within this unit, and also work on developing a program to bring my colleagues onboard to expose our students to career choices at an earlier stage in the game.  Additionally, there is always the inherent value in networking, and the sharing of ideas can often lead us down new paths

Hi Kevin,
I've been meaning to contact you and see how things are going. I found it interesting that we both applied to this internship and were accepted. I'll keep in touch to see how the career education information works in your new school. We will be coordinating our Career Awareness Program and Computer Fair again this year. I am waiting for Tom C. to check his schedule so that we can set a date. If you are not doing anything we can always use help!!!!!
Good Luck in this upcoming school year. Margaret K.
